Well hey….

I haven’t updated this photoblog for what seems like an eternity but I am still getting about 20-30 visits per day…must be stray or lost surfers.

Anyways, I just have too many commitments at this stage to manage this space meaningfully. I am still taking photographs and 50mm is still my favourite focal length. In fact I rented a darkroom for a whole week earlier this year in Brisbane and it was awesome. I PRINTED MY OWN NEGATIVES !!!!!! I can’t describe the feeling – magical, mystical, fulfilling, whatever – It was great!

You can find more information about the darkroom I hired here – Blanco Negro – Chris is a great guy and a great teacher. (Chris, if you are reading this, Thank you again!)

Also, my old computer crashed a few months ago and I have a shiny one now. Did not loose and pictures because I have the negs!! However it messed up my workflow a little. Haven’t made the effort to set up my scanner to my new computer and also, I think the software that came with my scanner might not be compatible with OS Lion. Anyways….. one of these days.

What else………. Adele is a great singer. Period.

Something different.

Went to Cambodia last year. Lovely lovely place.
Friendly people, beautiful kroma and the food….. TASTY – Amok, Lok Lak and the list goes on……

To many,
Cambodia = Angkor Wat.
To me, the picture below reminds me of Cambodia the most.
This shot was taken along the journey to one of the outlying temples.
Great scenery along the way and being in a tuk tuk makes me feel very much part of it.

Rollei Retro 100

I mentioned about experimenting with some ISO 100 films a while back. Well i’ve finally gotten around to it.

Shot 2 rolls of Rollei Retro 100, which is supposed to be identical to the legendary Agfa APX100. Developed the fims in Rodinal (such a convenient developer!!!!)

All in all, I am quite satisfied with the outcome and i shall let the pictures do the talking. Hope like enjoy them.

I have developed 4 rolls of film so far. All Tri-X in D76 1:1. The image above is the first frame from the first roll.

As you can see the tonality of the image is rather uneven. It could be either due to my agitation technique or the fact that the lighting was too harsh for ISO 400.

Imperfections that i have grew to like and learned to accept.
