It started with iPhoto. I exhausted the editing options really quickly. So I upgraded to….

….. Aperture 1 because I wanted to maintain and stay with the ‘Apple’ interphase. Later, I upgraded to….

….. Aperture 2, naturally. All this while, I have been reasonably happy with Aperture 2 but not entirely satisfied. By now (end of 2008), I was taking photography more seriously, which saw the purchase of Nikon D700, prime lenses, tripods, filter and the works. While trolling the numerous online resources available for an alternative to Aperture 2, I eventually decided to jump the boat and….

….. Photo Mechanic, Capture NX2 and Color Efex Pro 3.0. It was a GREAT workflow.
Photo Mechanic is so simple to use as an image management platform.
Capture NX2 worked really really well with Nikon’s RAW file -NEF.
Color Efex Pro 3.0 was hours and hours of fun.
It was a GREAT workflow……… until I went retro and decided to shoot film again (end of 2009). With film, I just needed to digitalise the image, sort, manage and do some basic curve adjustments and mild sharpening for online publishing. This workflow was getting too long winded and laborious. Scan, import, rename, export, file format conversion, import, export………….. I needed something more efficient. So…..

….. Aperture 3 is only AUD 99 (App Store). Will try this over the next few months.

Well… sometimes, I don’t just sit. I actually get up and complicate my life……..

Here is my first Aperture 3 export.

If you are interested in rangefinder photography or just photography, I highly recommend a visit.

Anyways, one thing came up recently in the forum,

Do you go through periods where you don’t take any pictures? and does that make you feel some form of guilt?

To which a fellow member (dave lackey) replied beautifully,

No, that is simply life. Music would be nothing without the pauses between active notes and the same is with life. You make your own music as you go along with pauses now and then, until the end.

It is what you do overall that determines your outcome, so enjoy the breaks and come back each time re-invigorated with passion!

Hope you are having a great sunday afternoon.

Went to Egypt sometime end of last year.
It was a fairly big deal for me photographically because it was the first big trip that I did after shooting film again.
Also, these images that you see here are from the very first rolls of film that I have ever developed in my life. I am just glad they all turned out reasonably well.

Never got around to really sort and arrange the images for viewing until today.
Better late than never I guess.
So here it is, some pictures that I’d like to share with you. Hope you like them.

Come to think of it, I have been pretty much ‘Burnie bound’ throughout winter – there hasn’t been much variety to my photography lately.
……… things will get interesting hopefully, as I am heading to ACT and Queensland for a total of 9 days. Leaving next Tuesday.
Will bring along my ‘internet stick’ so should be able to post little updates here and there.
