This spinach farm (i think) is located right behind the hotel that i stayed in while i was in Hoi An, Vietnam.
It was early morning and breakfast was served on the veranda overlooking this farm. Naturally, i took this picture while having breakfast……i think it was banana pancakes and vietnamese coffee.

Taken at Van Diemen Tulip Farm in October 2008 during the annual Bloomin’ Tulips Festival.
Back then, i was still using my D80 and was contemplating an upgrade to a D700 with a ‘Prime Only’ set up. Had my eyes on the Carl Zeiss Distagon 35mm f2. So, to see if i can survive with a prime only kit, i went to the farm with my Tokina 12-24mm set at 24mm throughout the whole photoshoot (to roughly match 35mm in full frame). I was quite happy with the end result, took a few decent pictures…..not great but i was satisfied.
This shot was one of my favorite from the series. I see innocence in this image.
…..oh by the way, i have since upgraded to a D700 and a few primes. Through a series of unfortunate (or fortunate) events, i didn’t end up getting the Carl Zeiss…..

This image of a street vendor Selling Greens was taken in Hoi An, Vietnam.
Nothing very special here. Just a random candid capture. However, i do like the colours in this picture. I think the blues, the yellows and the greens gave it a good contrast and yet, they blend together so naturally.

I like eating rice. Brown rice especially.
Brown rice is unpolished whole grain rice that is produced by removing only the outer husk. It becomes white rice when the bran layer is stripped off in the milling process. Compared with white rice, brown rice is more nutritious because it contains bran, which is a source of fibre, oils, B vitamins, and important minerals.
In much of Asia, brown rice is commonly associated with poverty and wartime shortages, and in the past was rarely eaten except by the sick, the elderly and as a cure for constipation. This traditionally denigrated kind of rice is now more expensive than common white rice, partly due to its relatively low supply and difficulty of storage and transport.
Well…… i am not sick, not elderly and certainly not constipated.
Go out and try some today !!

This structure, is part of an abandoned car wash/repairs shed that i drive pass to and fro daily on my way to work.
It was a beautiful day here in Burnie last Saturday, so i decided to make a purposeful trip to the location and spend some time taking pictures.
Here, i was trying to apply the so called frames of perspective or more simply ‘image in an image’ technique to concentrate your (the viewer’s) gaze. Hhmm….doesn’t work as well in this particular picture methinks…or does it?
